Lift The Limit

We The Undersigned petition the Iowa Legislature and Governor to Lift The Limit on the definition of Beer in Iowa Law. Under the current statute (Iowa Administrative Code, Section 123), Beer is limited to no more than 5% Alcohol By Weight (ABW), while wine is allowed to contain upwards of 17% ABW. We support Lifting The Limit on Iowa’s beer to at least 17% ABW, which will permit Iowans to enjoy a far wider selection of Beers than the current law allows, ensure parity between Iowa’s brewers and vintners, and remove the competitive disadvantage from Iowa’s brewers, distributors, and retailers.
